New Zealander Simone Roggen has just completed studying with Giuliano Carmignola in his Soloist Class at Lucerne’s Conservatory of Music. Through chambermusic and orchestras, the violin has taken her to places such as Austria, Australia, China, Denmark, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Taiwan, Tonga, Singapore, and around New Zealand. As a soloist she has performed with the Auckland Philharmonic, Christchurch Symphony, Auckland Youth Orchestra in New Zealand, the Biel Symphony and Lucerne Symphony in Switzerland.Winner of the New Zealand National Chamber music Competition in 1997 and 1998, she has continued enjoying this genre by giving concerts in Switzerland, Denmark, Austria and winning chamber music prizes at university. She was the first ever New Zealander to be accepted into the Thy Chambermusic Course in Denmark.

In Europe she has worked with the well known groups such as Camerata Bern, Paul Klee Ensemble, and Spira Mirabilis. In 2004 she completed her studies with Mary O’Brien at the University of Auckland with a Masters of Music, first class honors. Last year she performed with as a soloist with St Matthews Orchestra and toured New Zealand with her pianist Petya Mihneva, which will be repeated again in 2010. This year she completed the Soloist Diploma (awarded “with distinction” and the Edwin Fischer Prize) by performing as a soloist with the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra in one of Europe’s best performance venues the Kultur und Kongresszentrum Luzern.
